FAU Alums Navarro, Polus Earn ASUN All-Decade Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Former Florida Atlantic University golfers Natalia Navarro and Jessica Polus earned Atlantic Sun All-Decade honors, the league office announced Wednesday. Navarro (2002-2004) and Polus (2002) played for FAU within the qualifying years of 2001-2009. Â
To qualify for the All-Decade team, an individual must have played at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals meeting one of the following criteria earned All-Decade honors: three First Team All-Conference selections, four All-Conference selections or multiple Scholar-Athlete/Player of the Years. Individuals meeting at least two of the following criteria also made the team: Player/Freshman/Scholar-Athlete of the Year, championship medalist, three All-Conference selections, two First Team All-Conference selections or three ASUN Championship top-10s.
Despite playing only one season at FAU, Polus is tied for fourth in program history with two tournament victories. She also recorded the program's 11th best stroke average of all time and an eagle that season. Polus became the second FAU player ever to earn medalist honors at the ASUN Championship, while also earning First Team All-Conference and ASUN Player of the Year nods.Â
Navarro owns the second-best career stroke average in FAU history, a 76.77. She earned ASUN Freshman of the Year honors in 2001 then won ASUN Player of the Year in 2004. All four seasons Navarro spent at FAU led to All-Conference selections, including two First Team distinctions. Her four tournament wins and 11 career par-or-better rounds rank second all-time. Navarro left FAU with an 86.9 percent finish percentage, the best in program history.
