Burke Hits First Home Run Of The Season; Owls Fall 8-5 To Charlotte

- In the bottom of the second, the Niners made their mark first with an RBI single to put a run across the board. Charlotte increased their lead to 2-0 with a solo shot over the right field fence, followed by an additional three runs to make it 5-0 after three complete innings
- Kaitlyn Burke steps to the plate in the top of fourth and hits a 2-run home run over the left-center field fence to close the gap 5-2
- The Niners answer back with three runs in the bottom of the inning making it 8-2. FAU's Sommer Baker hits a double to deep center field, but is stranded in scoring position. Charlotte puts a runner in scoring position, but not for along as Burke throws down the Niner trying to steal third to get out of the inning with no damage done
- In the final inning, Burke continued her hot play with a rally starting single. Pinch-runner Danielle Bieberle scored off a RBI single from Myah Murray and then Sami Williams scored off a pass ball to close within four, 8-4. Ashleigh Jennings used her speed to the team's advantage, hitting an RBI singled to second base to cut the margin to 3 at 8-5. Despite the valiant effort in the top of the seventh the Owls were held scorelessÂ
- Burke hit her first home run of the season for a 2-run homer; leading the way for the Owls going 2-3 with 2 RBIÂ
- Baker, Jennings and Murray each went 1-3, with Baker a double, Jennings an RBI, and Murray an RBI and a run
- In the circle, Claire Blount collected the loss pitching three innings; striking out three
