CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Florida Atlantic University softball team (7-13, 1-3 C-USA) fell to Charlotte 5-1 during the final game of the three-game series on Sunday afternoon.Â

- Leadoff, Fayth Davis opened the game with a single up the middle, Sara Berthiaume and Jolie Duffner move Davis around the bases and in position to score on a Niners error to make it 1-0. Lynn Gardner opened the bottom of the first with a strikeout before Myah Murray turned a double play to get out of the inning
- In the bottom of the third, Charlotte took the lead via 2-run home run and a 3-run homer. Kara Lokeinsky closed out the inning with a strikeout looking, but the 5-1 Niners damage was done
- The Owls defense saw Lokeinsky record another backwards K and freshman outfielder Sara Berthiaume made a diving catch to prevent a Charlotte score, while the Niners also held FAU's offense scoreless the remainder of the gameÂ
- Davis led the way for FAU going 2-for-3 with one run scoredÂ
- Murray went 1-for-3Â
- In the circle, Gardner took the loss after two and a third innings of work and struck out two
- Lokeinsky completed the last 3.2 innings allowing no hits and striking out two batters

The Owls will step out of C-USA action and travel to Fort Myers, to face FGCU for a doubleheader on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
