ATHENS, Ga. – The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team finished off a tough slate of three matches in three days on the road with a loss on Monday to Georgia.
Notables:
- The No. 31 Bulldogs (4-2) took the 1-0 lead after doubles with wins on No. 3 and No. 1
- Playing indoors on four courts, the clinch came after three singles victories (No. 2, No. 4 and No. 1)
- The match continued, with Alvaro Fernandez Horta at No. 4 going to three sets, falling 4-6, 6-1, 3-6
- Then, No. 5 and No. 6 began
- Finishing first, in another three-set decision, was No. 5 Yovan Lambros, who won the second set but lost in a 10-point tiebreak in the third (4-6, 7-5, 4-10)
- The day concluded as No. 6 Gerard Escandell gained a point for the Owls (5-9), 7-6 (7-5), 7-5

Two more road matches are next for FAU, on successive weekends. On Saturday, Feb. 29, the Owls travel to Orlando to face UCF, currently ranked No. 24; the following Saturday, March 7, the team heads to NYC to face Columbia. The Owls' return home is March 14 for a doubleheader at the FAU Tennis Complex against Cleveland State and Army.
