Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Stay in Texas after Battle Against Notre Dame

FORT WORTH, Texas – The highly competitive trip out west for the Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team, at ITA Kick-off Weekend, came to a close against Notre Dame, with the Fighting Irish – who receive votes in the Oracle/ITA poll – taking the consolation match.

Notables:

For the second straight day, the opposition took the doubles point. Notre Dame (2-0) won on the first and second courts. The unfinished matchup on No. 3, featuring the Owls' (2-5) duo of Alvaro Fernandez Horta and Gerard Escandell, was tied at 4-4 when the others wrapped
The Fighting Irish won out in singles on No. 4, No. 6 and No. 2
No. 1 and No. 5 were each in the third set at the finish
Jason Legall had fallen in the first set, but recovered to take the second over the No. 5 player in Division I, Richard Ciamarra. The final unfinished score was 6-2, 2-6, 4-2 in Ciamarra's favor
Filip Krolo won his first set at No. 5 and was tied in set two (6-4, 4-4)
Similarly, Fernandez Horta was tied in his second set after falling in a tiebreaker in the first: 6-7 (3), 4-4
