BOCA RATON, Fla. – Sandwiched in between two Conference USA road sets, the No. 24 Florida Atlantic University baseball team is heading even further west for two midweek matchups away from home. The Owls are traveling from Mississippi, through Louisiana and into Texas, to play two Lone Star State opponents, each for the first time in program history.

Owls' Weekend in Review
The Owls (32-15, 17-7 C-USA) beat then-No. 29 Southern Miss in each of the first two weekend matchups in Hattiesburg, and the Golden Eagles staved off a sweep with a win Sunday in the bottom of the ninth. In addition to

Mitchell Hartigan went 8-for-11 (.727) against USM; Wilfred Alvarez batted .500 with five RBI, and
Joe Montes had an RBI in each game while hitting .429. The squad hit .368, was on base at a clip of .453, and slugged .588 while scoring 33 runs in the three-game set.

Additionally, Summerall's Saturday (5-for-6, two doubles, two home runs, five runs scored, seven RBI) has been chosen as one of four nationwide candidates for the USA Baseball Golden Spikes/D1Baseball.com

Owls' Midweek in Preview
First on the docket for the Owls is Southland Conference co-leader Sam Houston State (26-19, 16-8 SLC). The Bearkats took two of three this past weekend against conference foe Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Jordan Cannon is the second-leading hitter in the SLC at .391, and six regulars are at .313 or higher towards a team batting average of .301. Colton Cowser has seven home runs and 44 RBI; Hunter Hearn leads the way with nine homers and has knocked in 35.

Houston (29-18, 9-9 American), tied for fourth in the AAC standings, have won seven of nine and have risen all the way up to No. 36 in the RPI ratings (two spots behind FAU). The Cougars feature one of AAC's top power hitters in Joe Davis, with 16 home runs and 50 RBI. Jared Triolo paces the team with a .319 average, 35 runs scored, 58 hits and 13 doubles.
