Owls' Midweek in Preview
Speaking of sweeps, in 2018 and for the first time in program history, the Owls won all three matchups against the Hurricanes. And too, in 2019, UM has started the season unblemished after defeating Rutgers handily in each of their three contests, by scores of 19-3, 7-1 and 9-3. The Hurricanes finished 28-26 last season and have missed the postseason for two straight seasons after, previously, an unprecedented stretch of 44 consecutive trips to NCAA Regionals.
Â
Midweek Probable Starting Pitching Matchup
FAU – Hunter Cooley, Fr. LHP (1-0, 0.00) vs. UM – Slade Cecconi, Fr. RHP (0-0, 0.00)
Â
Opponent History
With the three wins last year (5-4 in Boca Raton and 11-9 and 7-4 in Coral Gables), the Owls are 5-6 against UM in the last four years. It's an 18-9 Hurricane advantage in the last 10 years, and 62-17 all-time. Eric Rivera has been a terror against UM, with nine RBI in six career games, including a ninth-inning grand slam at Mark Light Field last March to complete a six-run inning and seven-run comeback.
