BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Florida Atlantic University track and field team finished the Conference USA Indoor Championship on Sunday with two gold medals, a handful of school records and several personal records. Overall, the Owls finished in 12th place with 27 total points, which is the most by FAU since joining C-USA.

- Natalliah Whyte continued her hot streak on Sunday and will come home with two gold medals. The junior first took gold in the 60-meter dash with a school record time of 7.28. Less than an hour later, the junior lined up and raced to a first place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.42, which is also a school record. She bested the second place runner by 0.02 seconds for the win. Whyte also took home the Highest Point Scorer title on the women's side for the Championship
- Erica Lersch took eighth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.85
- Morgan Shortridge had a personal best score of 1.61 meters in the high jump for 15th place
- Cara Simpson also had a personal record score 11.70 meters in the triple jump for 15th place
- The 4x400 relay team of Simpson, Jada James, Searra Woods and Kennedie Reese took 11th place with a time of 4:03.81
- Seven Owls placed in the 3000-meter run. Mikaela Jonsson was the top FAU finisher with a time of 10:38.96 for 31st. Elizabeth Wellman finished in 10:43.28, Megan Giovanniello in 10:46.54, Kelsey Meltzer in 10:50.98, Brooke Butterfield in 11:07.04, Morgan Graff in 11:07.31 and Lauren Macon in 11:08.54

"We are certainly not satisfied, but it is very obvious that we are making progress and we are moving in the right direction. Congratulations to Natalliah for her amazing individual performances and for her award as the highest point scorer of the championships. Her drive, dedication and team mindedness is something we will build on and it will make us continue to improve as a program. I am very proud and humbled by the efforts put forth by our team members this weekend. We have a long way to go but the road ahead is looking bright."
