Owls' Week in Review
The Owls (2-4-0) fell in literally the last seconds on the road this past Friday at Murray State, 3-2, but flipped that score in beating Niagara at home two days later. In five of six matches thus far, FAU has scored multiple goals, and have had seven individuals in the goal column to this point.
Owls' Week in Preview
This past Friday marked four straight opponents making last year's NCAA Tournament, and add two more to that list in both Arkansas and Ole Miss (making for six in the first eight matches for the Owls this year). The Razorbacks (3-1-1) were SEC Tournament finalists a year ago and have just one double OT loss so far this season (3-2 to McNeese State). Their last victory came against a team that topped the Owls 1-0, as they beat Baylor last Friday, 3-2.
The Rebels (5-1-0) actually fell to Arkansas in the SEC Tournament last year, but would go on to qualify for the NCAA Tourney as well. They have a three-game win streak coming into the weekend, with their only loss this year also coming in overtime (2-1 at Minnesota). Two of their wins came against teams FAU are familiar with: 4-0 over C-USA foe WKU (though the Owls won't face the Lady Toppers in the regular season this year), and 3-0 over Murray State.
Opponent History
FAU has a match result against each of these two squads, both coming in the 2009 season, and both also in the same weekend, only in Boca Raton. The Owls tied the Razorbacks, 1-1, in double overtime on a Friday night (Sept. 18), and two days later (Sept. 20), were upended by the Rebels, 4-0.
After This
This is the first two of three straight road matches for the Owls, which also includes the team's 2018 Conference USA opener next Friday night, at Marshall in Huntington, West Virginia. There is no Sunday match next weekend. FAU returns home on Thursday, Sept. 20, hosting non-conference foe Oral Roberts. For tickets, visit
