Aimee Neff has been named Florida Atlantic University Head Women's Golf Coach, announced Brian White, FAU's assistant vice president and director of athletics, on Wednesday.
"Aimee is a proven winner professionally and collegiately both as a student-athlete and as a coach," said White. "I'm excited to welcome her to FAU and look forward to working with her to build a program that is highly competitive in the classroom and on the golf course."
Neff brings five years of experience at the collegiate level, eight years as a professional golfer and four stellar seasons as a collegiate athlete to the FAU program. She has played and worked in the Big Ten Conference and has coached in both the SEC and ACC.
Prior to FAU the Carmel, Ind. native served as an associate head women's golf coach at the University of North Carolina where she helped to guide the Tar Heels to a 2018 NCAA San Francisco Regional.
Neff made the move to North Carolina after one season with Vanderbilt where she served as an assistant coach for a team that advanced to the 2016/17 NCAA Athens Regional.
Neff began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Michigan State, in 2013. She served in that role through the 2016 season. In 2014, she helped coach the Spartans to their 11th Big Ten Championship and a NCAA Championship appearance.
As a student-athlete, Neff competed at Michigan State and is one of only three Spartans to earn All-Big Ten honors four times, including first-team honors as a senior in 2011. She also helped Michigan State to its ninth Big Ten Championship in 2011. She ended her collegiate career ranked fifth all-time in Spartan history in career scoring average. She also recorded 13 top-10 finishes in her career and was awarded the Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor as a senior in 2011.
In 2009, Neff helped her team to a Tar Heel Invitational victory at the UNC Finley Golf Course. Her team's 860 round of 54-hole score still ranks as the second-lowest in Spartan history.
At Michigan State, Neff not only excelled on the golf course, but also in the classroom. She was named to the NGCA All-Scholar Team and Academic All-Big Ten Team in 2009, 2010, and 2011, graduating with a 3.66 GPA in communication in May 2011.
Professionally, Neff played on the Symetra Tour from 2011-14, where she competed in the 2012 U.S. Women's Open, had two top-five finishes in 2012, was the Illinois Women's Open champion in 2008 and 2009 and was the Indiana Women's Open champion in 2009 and 2010. Neff also played on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tour in the winter of 2013.
Along with her life-long training in the sport of golf, Neff holds a Titleist Performance Institute Certification in both Level I and II. She is AimPoint Express and Trackman University certified. She has participated as the Women's Golf Team liaison for the Dicky Baddour Leadership Academy at the University of North Carolina and has attended the Alliance of Women's Coaches Academy.
Neff earned her Bachelor of Arts in communication from Michigan State University in May of 2011.
"I would like to thank athletics director, Brian White, and his staff, for this fantastic opportunity to join the FAU family! Each person I have interacted with from FAU has been terrific and made me feel welcomed," said Neff. "FAU has a lot to offer academically, as well as fantastic weather and beautiful golf courses. With the right mindset and work ethic, I truly believe we can take this program to new heights. I look forward to working with the student-athletes to excel in the classroom, on the course and in the community."
