BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team practiced for the final time this week with cloud cover and a slow rain. The Owls will play host in the Sun Belt Conference home opener 7 p.m., Saturday versus the University of North Texas.
The Owls completed installations on Wednesday and focused on situations on Thursday. The day began with passing drills for the offense and defensive units before shifting into about 40 minutes of situations with three quarterbacks receiving work on the offensive field. The freshmen quarterbacks ran the scout team on the defensive field. The wet day concluded with the two-minute drill and special teams work.
Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger left at the conclusion of practice for the weekly radio show hosted by Schnellenberger and ESPN760's Ken LaVicka. Offensive Coordinator Darryl Jackson joined the duo, at Hooters of Boca Raton, for the second half of the show.
FAU Athletics will host Coach's Breakfast at 8 a.m. Friday morning, in the Tom Oxley Center Founders' Lounge, for all Owl Club members. The team will hold a closed walk-through on Friday afternoon.
