BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic football fans had the opportunity to enjoy the 2026 Friday Night Showcase on April 17. One person missed under center was redshirt senior QB Caden Veltkamp, who used much of the spring semester to rehabilitate from an injury suffered during the season.
Veltkamp used each of the 15 practices, including the spring game opportunity, to hone in on his defensive reads by watching and generally building practice leadership skills. The Owls starting quarterback was on hand for the spring game which gave fausports.com the opportunity to go behind the scenes.
VELTKAMP MIC'D UP
Veltkamp is expected to lead the Owls into the "Swamp" on Saturday, Sept. 5 when FAU travels to Gainsville to face host Florida. He returns for his final collegiate campaign after ending 2025 No. 1 nationally in completions per game (28.75), No. 3 in passing yards per game (303.4), No. 6 in total offense, and No. 7 in passing yards (3,641).
