The Florida Atlantic University football team continued preparations for the season opening game against No. 10 University of Texas with a two and half hour practice at the Tom Oxley practice field.
Tight End Jamari Grant was a pass receiving presence today with several confident catches in traffic, as quarterback Rusty Smith continued to throw crisp passes. Linebacker Andre Clark read several plays well and broke them up in the back field.
Tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. a pre-game press conference will be held at Florida Atlantic University with Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger, quarterback Rusty Smith, linebacker Frantz Joseph, and running back Charles Pierre available for comments.
FAU opens the 2008 regular season on August 30 when they travel to face Texas at 7 p.m. EDT. The game will be broadcast on television by Fox Sports Southwest and will available on pay-per-view nationwide to satellite dish owners. The game will also be broadcast on the radio beginning at 6:45 p.m. on WFTL 640 AM, and on the internet at www.fausports.com.
Season and individual game tickets are on sale now. The Owls begin their home schedule against the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday, September 6 at 4 p.m. at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. It's Youth Day, the first 350 kids to arrive will receive a free FAU football jersey. Children will be able to participate in carnival rides and games, as well as have the opportunity to see Angelica from the Nickelodeon show, "Rugrats."
