BOCA RATON, FL - Six days remain and just two practices prior to the 2007 Spring Game scheduled to be held this Saturday on the new Florida Atlantic University Track and Field Complex, located northeast of the FAU Basketball Arena, on the Boca Raton campus.
In preparation for the game, the Owls held a practice session on Monday afternoon in shorts and helmets.
Special teams highlighted the beginning of the workout, as both sides focused on punt protection. Afterward, the team split off and worked on agility drills, motion routes, and various tackling and blocking assignments.
During the seven-on-seven drill, Kris Bartels recovered a fumble. Cortez Gent came up with a diving grab on a Rusty Smith throw to the sideline. In the team session, Corey Small nearly came up with an interception on a thirty-yard pass attempt. Rusty Smith showed mobility on the ground, sneaking for 20 yards on a quarterback keeper.
The Owls scrimmage, which will use a modified scoring system, is free and open to the public. Food, merchandise and ticket information will be available along with an interactive play area for kids, including an appearance by the FAU Cheer Team and Owsley the mascot. No outside food, beverages or pets will be permitted.
Owl Club members will be able to enjoy complimentary food and drink under the Balistreri Realty tent located in the South end zone. For additional information, please call 1-866-FAU-OWLS or logon to www.fausports.com.
