BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University returned to practice in helmets and full pads Wednesday afternoon after having the previous five days off. FAU heads into its bye week after last weeks game against Illinois State was postponed due to Hurricane Jeanne. The Owls broke into individual drills for half of practice before moving into 11-on-11 team drills. Practice ended early due to rain and lightning.
First and second team offenses practiced against first and second team defenses while the third team offense practiced against the third team defense. McKinson Souverain moved the third team offense well, finding Tito Pollice in the end zone during red zone drills. Willie Hughley and the rest of the first team defense showed little rust from their time off as the cornerback sacked Jared Allen on a cornerback blitz then knocked the ball out of wide receiver Brittney Tellis' hands in the end zone. Mark Myers launched a field goal from 57-yards out.
