Alexa Petriella, MS, ATC, LAT, joined the Florida Atlantic University sports medicine staff in January of 2022 and will focus her attention as an assistant athletic trainer, with football and the women’s tennis programs.
Prior to FAU, Petriella was the primary athletic trainer for the women's rugby program at Life University in Marietta, Georgia.
Petriella has been involved with collegiate athletics since her undergrad days at the College of Charleston where she played rugby, graduating with a major in exercise science and minor in coaching and psychology. She went to graduate school at Seton Hall University, earning her degree in athletic training, while acting as a student athletic trainer for the Princeton University men's soccer, women's ice hockey, and women's rugby programs.
Following her time in undergraduate and graduate studies, Petriella served as a resident athletic trainer at Wofford College, working with the football, women' soccer, men's and women's tennis, and women's basketball teams.
A native of Colts Neck, N.J., in her spare time Petriella enjoys competitive bodybuilding and hanging out with her dog, Apollo.
