Prior to coming to FAU, Herring could be found in and around all aspects of strength and conditioning while also working on his doctorate.
Served as the CEO and Director of Performance of DIA Performance in Longwood, Florida where he implemented standards for performance-driven outcomes for athletes, teams, and individuals.
At UCF
Worked with the Knights from 2017-21 where he was a Graduate Research Assistant for the UCF Power Lab.
Worked as an Adjunct Faculty Member in the School of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy from 2017-2021.
Was the course creator of the “Force-Velocity Profiling” mini-course for The Coach Academy, powered by Science for Sport.
At Angelo State (2012 – 2017)
Served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach from 2012-17.
Direct oversight of the sport performance programs for eight NCAA Division II teams, including: baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, football, women’s soccer, softball, the throwers of the track and field team, and volleyball.
Supervision of multiple Graduate Assistants and Interns.
Development and management of the sport performance facilities, including two weight rooms and a refueling station.
Conducted nutritional counseling for athletes, including daily management of dietary supplements.
At Angelo State (2010 – 2012)
Began his career with Angelo State as a Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant, a role he served while working on his master’s degree.
As a Graduate Assistant, he worked directly with seven NCAA Division II teams, including: men’s and women’s basketball, football, women’s golf, women’s soccer, softball, and volleyball
With the Houston Astros Baseball Club
In 2012, worked with the Tri-City ValleyCats, the Astros Class A Short Season affiliate, with direct oversight of the sport performance program for all players, including pitching staff and positional players.

Personal Education: Earned a B.S. degree in Exercise Science degree, as a Summa Cum Laude graduate, from Ithaca College in 2009; a M.Ed. in Coaching, Sport, Recreation, and Fitness Administration from Angelo State in 2012; and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Central Florida in 2021.
