Tony Sorrentino joined Florida Atlantic Athletics in April 2018 as the director of player development. Sorrentino joins FAU with over 13 years of coaching experience at the high school, collegiate and professional level.
Prior to FAU, Sorrentino served as an offensive quality control coach at the University of Tennessee, where he focused on wide receivers.
From 2013 to 2016, Sorrentino served as an assistant wide receivers coach and offensive quality control coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he assisted in developing Jacksonville’s young receiving corps.
Under Sorrentino’s guidance, wide receiver, Marqise Lee posted career highs in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in 2016. In 2015, wide receiver, Allen Robinson earned his first Pro Bowl nod after posting a franchise record 14 receiving touchdowns. In 2015, Sorrentino also oversaw the development of wide receiver, Allen Hurns who became the youngest undrafted player since the 1970 NFL merger to post 1,000-plus receiving yards and 10-plus receiving TDs in a single season.
Sorrentino spent the 2012 season at his alma mater, The College of New Jersey as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. He also spent the 2007 season as an assistant linebackers coach, winning the NJAC Championship.
In 2011, Sorrentino served as offensive quality control coach and graduate assistant at the University of Miami.
Prior to Miami, Sorrentino served as a quarterbacks coach during the 2010 season at the University of Minnesota. In 2009, he served an offensive quality control coach.
Sorrentino began his coaching career in 2005 as an assistant at Morristown Beard High School in New Jersey. He also had stints at West Essex (N.J.) High School and Montville (N.J.) Township High School. In 2007 he completed a summer internship with the Baltimore Ravens. As an undergraduate student, he interned with the Houston Texans.
Sorrentino earned a B.S. in health and physical education in 2005 from the College of New Jersey, where he was a four-year letterman at wide receiver. He also earned an M.S. in exercise science from the university in 2012.
Sorrentino and his wife, Kara, have a son Anthony Jr.
