Mike Williams became part of the staff in 2008 gaining experience in nearly every facet as an intern. He was a part of the 2008 Motor City Bowl Championship staff and returned in 2009 to narrow his focus in an expanded role. He was elevated to graduate assistant in the spring of 2010.
During the first two seasons, Williams worked on the offensive side of the ball where he assisted with opponent film breakdown and cut-ups, assisted with the input of self scout and offensive reports for the coordinator as well as practice play cards. He assisted with the scouting and tendency reports and with recruiting tape evaluation. He also has charted offensive plays for both practice and games as well as assisted with operations and filming practice and games. Williams worked in the booth and is expected to return in 2011.
Prior to FAU, Williams served three seasons, 2004-07 as the varsity wide receivers coach at Western High School where he worked and monitored all facets of the program including personnel changes, opponent coverage's, monitoring wide receivers academic progress, strength and conditioning, 7-on-7 drills, play cards for practice and running the offensive scout team during defensive and 7-on-7 drills. He also worked with the Douglas High School junior varsity wide receivers and tight ends from 2003-04. In that role, Williams planned, organized, taught all aspects of the position and assisted with the special teams unit.
Williams earned his bachelor of arts degree in interdisciplinary social science from FAU in 2009. He is a 2002 graduate of Western High School, in Davie, FL, where he played tight end.
