Meet Edge Coach Michael Cibene

At Florida Atlantic

Returned to South Florida prior to the 2023 Spring Drills, joining the staff as a defensive analyst
Held off-field responsibilities while working with scouting opponents, team self evaluations and providing help to the defensive coordinator
Elevated to Edge Coach prior to the 2024 Spring Drills

At Boston College

Held graduate assistant position from 2021 until he joined the Owls
Primarily worked with the defensive line
Spearheaded the coordination of the offensive scout team and cards
Provided self-scout and opponent scouting reports for defensive staff
Charted game day offensive tendencies and was directly in contact with defensive coordinator
Began practice week with opponent introduction
Assisted with special teams

At The Ohio State

Served as a defensive assistant for the 2019 and 2020 seasons
Member of the 2019 and 2020 Big Ten Championship and College Football Playoff staffs
Worked with the linebackers
Helped construct a 2019 defense that ranked No. 1 in yards per play and red zone defense, No. 2 in total defense and passing yards allowed, No. 3 in scoring defense and sacks and No. 7 in rush defense
Coached Malik Harrison, Pete Werner, Baron Browning, Tuf Borland and Justin Hilliard, all five NFL linebackers
Produced self-scout and opponent breakdown reports to the defensive staff

At Grand Valley State

Worked as a graduate assistant from 2017-18
Gained time with both the linebackers and defensive backs
Part of a 2018 NCAA Division II Playoff staff
Handled the management and coordination of the offensive scout team as well as self-scout and opponent breakdown for the defensive staffs

As a Player

Member of The Ohio State football team while maintaining above a 3.0 G.P.A.
Worked alongside multiple All-Americans and future NFL players
Experience four seasons of 11+ wins (49 in total) as well as a New Year’s Bowl game
Part of the 2014 Big Ten and CFP championship team
Additionally, regular community volunteer, four time Scholar Athlete Award recipient, 2016 Big Ten All-Academic, 2016 Varsity O Letterman
