Florida Atlantic to Attend 2026 American Kickoff

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Zach Kittley, along with redshirt seniors QB Caden Veltkamp and DL CJ Doggette Jr., will represent Florida Atlantic football at the 2026 American Kickoff, held in St. Petersburg, Florida at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront from July 23-24.
The annual media day, featuring all 14 American Conference teams, offers fans a first look at the upcoming '26 football season. Press conferences and special events will be held throughout the two days.
Kittley, currently the youngest head coach in FBS football, enters his second year at the helm of the program after producing the top passing offense in the country in his first season. The Owls led the nation in passing yards per game at 340.2.
Veltkamp returns as Coach Kittley's field general. In his 2025 campaign, he was on top of the country in completions per game at 28.75 and was seventh in passing yards with 3,641.
Doggette Jr. is coming off an All-Conference selection in 2025, leading the team with four sacks and seven tackles for loss.
Media sessions will take place at 11 a.m. ET Thursday, followed by Friday morning press conferences with all 14 head coaches in the conference. Commissioner Tim Pernetti will deliver remarks on Friday, July 24 at 8:05 a.m. ET.
Live coverage of the American Kickoff will air Friday, July 24, at 7:50 a.m. ET/6:50 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
Fans can experience the Kickoff in person with access to press conferences, photo opportunities and meet-and-greets with players and coaches. Registration is available at www.TheAmerican.org/Kickoff.
