Karson Turner began working in the Florida Atlantic football offices in 2004. He moved into a coaching position in the summer of 2005 as a graduate assistant, concentrating his efforts with the defensive coordinator and defensive backs.
Prior to FAU, Turner served as Huntingdon College's offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator and assistant strength coach. While at Huntingdon, Turner helped the start-up program field a competitive team, at the Division III level, within one year. The Hawks inaugural team was comprised of 85 young men, mostly from Florida.
Turner began his coaching career in the Austrian International Football League with the Cineplexx Blue Devils. The Blue Devils were a one year old program that captured the league championship in the second season. He then returned to the States for a brief stint at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, KS before he was hired as an assistant coach at Culver Stockton College in Canton, MO where he worked with wide receivers and served as an assistant strength coach.
Turner played quarterback for Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO where he earned Mid-America Intercollegiate All-Conference Honorable Mention and also was a two-time letterman in track and field. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education with and emphasis in early childhood studies in 2000. The opportunity to coach at FAU allowed Turner to return to his native South Florida. The Clewiston High School graduate gained his prep experience playing for Florida Sports Hall of Fame Coach Al Morrell. Turner was a two-time athlete of the year at CHS where he was a quarterback and defensive back and was a state qualifier in multiple events in track.
