IRVING, Texas – Florida Atlantic women's soccer earned three weekly awards, as announced by the American Conference on Monday.
Following a 7-0 win over Howard and Sunday's 1-1 draw with No. 20 Florida, three Owls were honored by the league:
Hailey Santiago as Offensive Player of the Week,
Ashley Small as Goalkeeper of the Week, and
Lola Hathorne as Freshman of the Week.
Santiago, a junior forward from Freehold, New Jersey, tallied a conference-high four goals in the two matches: FAU's first hat trick since 2022 in the win over Howard, and the equalizer in the 63rd minute on Sunday against Florida. She added an assist against the Bison in the Thursday match as well, and totaled eight shots (six on target) for the week.
Small notched 10 saves against 18 Florida shot attempts in the Sunday draw. That set a new career high for the junior from Boca Raton, and is the most by an Owl keeper in nearly three years. She and the defensive backline kept the Gators off the scoreboard for the final 42 minutes of the match to earn the toughly contested point.
Hathorne starred in the Thursday match, recording her first career collegiate goal and also posting two assists in the victory as well. The midfielder from Loxahatchee, Florida, put five of her eight shot attempts on target in the two contests in the Owls' 1-0-1 week.
The Owls next host Jacksonville on Thursday night, with first kick set for 7 p.m. at FAU Soccer Stadium on FAUSports.com.
