BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team ends its two-match westward conference trek Sunday, taking on American foe Tulsa at Hurricane Soccer Stadium.
First kick for the Owls (5-5-4, 3-2-0) and Golden Hurricane (6-5-2, 1-2-1) will be at 2 p.m. Eastern. The match will not be streamed. Only live stats will be available.
ABOUT THE OWLS
- The Owls posted their second consecutive shutout, moving over .500 both overall and in league play with a 2-0 road win Thursday at North Texas.
- Sutton Markee, in her first match since Aug. 27, recorded the game-winner in the 74th minute. She becomes the ninth Owl to put her name in the goal column this season.
- On the top of that column – both for the Owls and in the American – is Hailey Santiago with 11. Her 11th was the second and final score of Thursday's match. She holds a two-goal edge, and leads by six total points, over the closest American player.
- Santiago's goal was set up by Lola Hathorne, her team-best fifth assist of the year, which has her among a group of six players currently in a tie for third in the American.
- Lily Holden's back-to-back clean sheets raised her save percentage to .895, which would rank sixth in the nation (and best in the American) if she met the necessary minimum qualifications. She improved to 4-1-1 with the win.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN HURRICANE
- Tulsa has dropped two straight, 3-1 to Charlotte and 4-0 to Memphis.
- Sophomore forward Presley Boyd leads the team, and is tied for fourth in the conference, with six goals. She is also tied with teammate Aniya Facen with five assists, in that same American grouping as Hathorne.
- Boyd and Facen are fourth and tied for sixth with 17 and 15 total points, respectively. Blaine Schutte is 10th with 11.
- Goalkeeper Maddy Nigey is second among qualified American netminders with a .782 save percentage, and tied for fourth with 43 total saves.
- Head Coach Jim Rhein is in his 19th season at Tulsa. He is in the midst of his sixth season atop the program, with a 40-45-21 record.
ABOUT THE SERIES
FAU and Tulsa have a very brief history, with the Golden Hurricane holding a 1-0-2 edge. The teams tied 0-0 in Tulsa in 2013; Tulsa took a 3-1 win, also on its home pitch in 2024; and last season in Boca Raton, it was another stalemate, this time a 2-2 final.
