BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's soccer hosts Miami Sunday in the Owls' first match of the new season at FAU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPN+.
ABOUT THE OWLS
- The Owls (0-0-1) fought to a 1-1 draw against FIU on Wednesday on Howard Schnellenberger Field at Flagler Credit Union Stadium.
- Freshman Maiya Castillo scored the Owls' goal, on an assist from fellow newcomer in Bella Burr.
- A total of 20 Owls saw the pitch, 13 of which made their first appearance in an FAU uniform.
- Goalkeeper Ashley Small and defender Cicely-Ann Spencer-Wickham did not come off the pitch; the next highest in minutes played were Hailey Santiago (78), Sutton Markee (72) and Sydney Neira (67).
ABOUT THE HURRICANES
- UM fell to Jacksonville on the road in their opener, 2-0, despite outshooting the Dolphins (10-8).
- Ken Masuhr is in his third season as the squad's head coach, and holds a 12-17-7 career record.
- The Hurricanes were 7-8-3 a year ago, 1-7-2 in ACC play.
- The team has 15 returnees and 16 newcomers, 11 of which are freshmen.
ABOUT THE SERIES
FAU and Miami have played 23 times in their shared history, with the Hurricanes holding a slim 12-8-3 advantage. The last Owls' win came in the spring 2021 season, 1-0 at home in Boca Raton.
