BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's softball team continues American Conference play for a three-game series on Joan Joyce Field at FAU Softball Stadium against UTSA. Friday's first pitch is at 6 p.m., followed by Saturday at 5 p.m. and the finale on Sunday at noon. All games will be on ESPN+.
The weekend will offer an opportunity for the Owls (22-11, 4-5) to move up in the league standings, where the Roadrunners (19-15, 7-2) are currently tied for second place.
Friday will be 'Kids Night', with tickets under $5. Families can take part in fun games with additional giveaways, including fanny packs, posters, and an activity packet.
LAST TIME OUT
The Owls won a midweek matchup at FIU on Wednesday by a score of 10-2. The offense was sparked by two home runs from redshirt junior outfielder
Kylie Hammonds and another from sophomore
Lily Holtje. In the circle, senior pitcher
Autumn Courtney delivered seven strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work.
ABOUT THE OWLS
- As back-to-back regular season champions, Florida Atlantic was ranked No. 1 in the American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- The Owls lead the American Conference in runs (199), doubles (54), RBI (177), walks (120), on-base percentage (.412), runs allowed (100), strikeouts thrown (212), and opposing batting average (.237).
- Florida Atlantic ranks No. 15 nationwide in fielding percentage (.979) and No. 35 in doubles.
- Hammonds, currently on an 11-game hit streak, leads the conference in runs (37) while leading the team in home runs (nine) and recording two multi-homer games. She owns the all-time program record for career hit-by-pitches (20).
- Senior third baseman Jesiana Mora has reached base in 25 out of 28 games played. On Feb. 28 against Coastal Carolina, she tied FAU's single-game record in walks with four.
- Holtje has earned both an American Player of the Week and two Honorable Mention recognitions. She leads the Owls in doubles (10), RBI (27), walks (21), and on-base percentage (.514).
- Sophomore outfielder Bella Foran leads the team in batting average (.414).
- Courtney became the program's fifth All-American in May of 2025 after winning the unanimous American Conference Pitcher of the Year honor. She opened the '26 season, earning American Pitcher of the Week, and currently leads the team with 73 strikeouts and a 2.45 ERA. Courtney is No. 4 nationally among all active players with 71 career victories. In March of 2026, she was named the Palm Beach County Amateur Athlete of the Year.
- Graduate pitcher Ainsley Lambert is No. 2 in the nation with six saves and is the career leader among all active players with 28. She leads the American in batting average allowed (.201).
- Head Coach Jordan Clark is in her fourth season at the helm of the program and owns a 142-59 record. Clark and her assistants received the American Conference Coaching Staff of the Year recognition in both 2024 and '25.
ABOUT THE ROADRUNNERS
- Head Coach Vann Stuedeman is in her third season with the team.
- Sophomore Sabrina Wick leads the way at the plate with 44 hits, second in the American.
- Freshman pitcher Arlette Hernandez has made an immediate impact in the circle with an 11-5 record on a 2.86 ERA. She leads the league with 96 strikeouts, 18 more than second place.
- The Roadrunners lead the conference in batting average (.333) and hits (294).
- Florida Atlantic holds a 24-2 all-time advantage over UTSA and has won the last 13 matchups.
