JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The No. 14-ranked Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team swept day two in Jacksonville, earning a 3-2 win over No. 17 North Florida, and finishing the day with a 5-0 sweep over Saint Leo on Saturday at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex.

Florida Atlantic improved to 13-7 this season, while North Florida falls to 11-8 and Saint Leo drops to 10-3 on the season.

Reese Edwards and Kendall Mignerey scored first against North Florida, earning a 21-17, 21-15 straight-set win on court four. The Ospreys tied things up at 1-1 after taking a tight three-set battle at the 5s. Denisse Morgenstern and Shantel Starling put the Owls back in front, taking a straight-set sweep on court one, 21-14, 21-15. Mia Scanlon and Klaire VanDeusen clinched the match for the Owls on court three, sweeping the Ospreys, 21-18, 21-18. North Florida closed out the match, taking a two-set win on court two, 3-2.

In the weekend finale, Edwards and Mignerey got the Owls on the board first again, taking a dominant 21-14, 21-8 win at the 4s. Shayna Wolf and Spittal made it 2-0 Owls after holding on for a three-set win on court five, 21-18, 18-21, 15-6. Morgenstern and Starling clinched the win for FAU, earning a 21-12, 21-14 straight-set win at the 1s. Scanlon and VanDeusen secured the Owls' fourth point, winning a two-setter on court three, 21-15, 21-17. Ava Koehl and Olivia Strandberg closed out the Owls' sweep, winning in straight sets on court two, 21-18, 21-10.

NOTABLES

VanDeusen and Scanlon, Morgenstern and Starling, and Edwards and Mignerey finished the weekend 2-0, moving to 12-7, 10-9, and 8-10 as pairs this season, respectively.
Strandberg and Koehl went 1-1 on the day, tying for a team-best 11-6 as a pair this season.
Spittal and Wolf earned their first win, pairing up for the first time this season against Saint Leo.
The Sandy Owls improved to 12-9 all-time against North Florida, and remained perfect vs. Saint Leo, improving to 4-0.
