BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic softball team is on the road with a midweek matchup against No. 25 UCF set for Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
Before participating in their fourth and final regular season tournament, the Owls (12-5) will look to build on their six-game winning streak with their third meeting against the Knights (14-4) in as many years.
LAST TIME OUT
FAU went undefeated after hosting the six-game Joan Joyce Classic. A 6-5 walk-off win over Kansas was followed by outscoring opponents 36-4 the rest of the way. Sophomore
Lily Holtje earned a spot on the American Conference weekly honorable mention list after recording seven hits, a home run, three doubles, five RBI, five runs, and seven walks on a .609 on-base percentage.
ABOUT THE OWLS
- Head Coach Jordan Clark is in her fourth season at the helm of the program and owns a 133-53 record. Clark and her assistants have received the American Conference Coaching Staff of the Year recognition in both 2024 and '25.
- Florida Atlantic was ranked No. 1 in the American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Senior pitcher Autumn Courtney became the program's fifth All-American after winning the unanimous American Conference Pitcher of the Year. She opened the '26 season winning American Pitcher of the Week and currently leads the team with 34 strikeouts.
- Holtje has earned both an American Player of the Week and Honorable Mention. She leads the Owls in OPS (1.315), doubles (six), RBI (15), walks (15), and on-base percentage (.571).
- Redshirt junior outfielder Kylie Hammonds leads the team in hits (18) and is tied with redshirt senior shortstop McKenna Mulholland in home runs (three).
- A trio of freshman pitchers in Makenna Lee, Ashlynn Durkin, and Madilyn Byrd have allowed just nine earned runs in 29 total innings. The three combined for a five-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts on Feb. 20 against Southern Indiana.
ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
- The Knights are led by Head Coach Cindy Ball-Malone in her eighth season with the team.
- Offensively, junior infielder Sierra Humphreys is leading the charge with 21 hits. She is ranked No. 7 nationwide in doubles with seven and her 21 RBI are 21st most in the nation.
- Sophomore catcher Beth Damon has launched a team-high five home runs.
- In the circle, redshirt sophomore Isabella Vega holds a 4-2 record with a 1.73 ERA and has totaled three saves. She leads the team with 27 strikeouts.
- The Knights and Owls have met 32 times previously, with UCF holding a 15-17 advantage in the all-time series.
UP NEXT
The Owls will head to Conway, South Carolina to participate in the Chicken Beach Brawl from Friday, Feb. 27 to Sunday, March 1. The three-day tournament hosted by Coastal Carolina will also see FAU face Binghamton and Saint Joseph's.
