Owls Prep for Two Matches on the Road

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Florida Atlantic's women's soccer team will play two matches on the road, opening up with Miami on Thursday, August 21, at 7 p.m.. On Sunday, the Owls will return down south to face FIU at 4 p.m..

Thursday's matchup marks the third match of the season for both the Owls (0-1-1) and the Hurricanes (1-1) . The match against Miami will kick off at 7 p.m. and will air on ACCNX. The Owls are the only American Conference team facing the Hurricanes this year. On Sunday, FAU will return to Miami to face the Panthers (0-1) for the 40th time in program history. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
ABOUT THE OWLS

Head Coach Patrick Baker enters his 13th season at the helm of the Owls. Baker is one of the top 40 winningest active Division I women's soccer head coaches.
The Owls enter their third season in the American Conference.
Defender Daniella Diaz, midfielder Morgan McDonald, and forward Michelle Horan were named the Owls' three players to watch by the American.
FAU has 12 newcomers on the roster for the upcoming season.
2024 assists leader Horan returns to complete her college career with seven, which leads the team in that category.
Freshman Isabel Bostic and graduate student Sloane Young are the two leading goal scorers.
Transfer Sydney Neira recorded her first assist of the year against UCF to become the season's assists leader.

ABOUT THE HURRICANES

2025 marks the second year with Head Coach Ken Masuhr at the helm.
Miami was picked 15th in the 2025 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll
Mashur added Juan Cediel to his staff as an assistant coach this season, focusing on goalkeepers, while Kelly Keelan was promoted to associate head coach.
Redshirt sophomore Moira Flynn leads the Hurricanes with one goal on the year.
Florida native Ciara Alarcon recorded an assist against UNC Asheville to lead Miami in the category.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS

Mat Dunn enters his first year at the helm for FIU after serving as the head coach at Keiser for 14 years.
The Panthers started their season at Florida State, losing 2-0 to open the season.
FIU will travel to Jacksonville on Thursday to face the Dolphins.
The Panthers were named No. 2 in the CUSA Preseason Coaches Poll.
Goalkeeper Valery Restrepo earned a spot on the CUSA Preseason All-Conference team.

SERIES HISTORY

The Owls hold an 8-11-3 record against the Hurricanes. The last matchup against these two programs took place on Oct. 6, 2024, where the Owls fell 1-0.
Thursday's match marks the 12th time FAU plays in Coral Gables, Fla.
In the last ten matchups against FIU, the Owls are 8-1-1.
The first matchup between FIU and FAU dates back to September 18, 1991 in Miami, Fla.
Last time the Owls took a trip to Miami, they won 2-0.
