No. 24 Owls Sweep Shockers; Coach Clark Earns 100th Victory

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 24 Florida Atlantic softball team completed the sweep in their first American Athletic Conference series of the season, defeating Wichita State 5-0 on Sunday for Head Coach Jordan Clark's career 100th win.
For the Owls (24-4, 3-0), two home runs were all that was needed to break the Shockers (10-12, 0-3 AAC). Junior pitcher Autumn Courtney checked in the third inning with a 2-0 lead and allowed just two hits the rest of the way. She improves to 12-1 on the season, responsible for half of FAU's wins.
Making the start in the circle, senior Gabby Sacco pitched the first 2.1 innings, before making way for Courtney.
With two outs, junior Chloe Yeatts launched a bomb to left center field, her fourth home run of the season, to clear the bases and put the game out of reach.

THE BEGINNING
It did not take long for the Owls to put themselves on the scoreboard. THE TURNING POINT
Courtney retired the final two Shockers batters of the third inning and stranded a baserunner. The defensive battle was in full swing with both teams trading four scoreless innings. THE FINISH

NOTES/NOTABLE
- The Owls finished the series outscoring the Shockers 14-2.
- Florida Atlantic is one of just two teams to remain undefeated in AAC play.
- Courtney's 12 wins are the most in the conference. She also leads in lowest batting average allowed (.171) and strikeouts (86) and is second in ERA (1.86).
- With the three-run blast, Yeatts takes the team lead in RBI with 28 on the season.
- Mora's third home run of the season ties her career high.
