FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 12-ranked Florida Atlantic Sandy Owls fought tough in a pair of top-10 matchups on Saturday, but came up just short, falling against No. 7 Florida State, 3-2, and No. 4 TCU, 4-1.

Florida Atlantic falls to 8-4 overall, while Florida State improves to 10-1 and TCU moves to 6-3 this season.

No. 7 Florida State took the first three courts to clinch the match at 3-0, however the Sandy Owls battled back to take court three as Kate McLaughlin and Kendall Mignerey held on to win a three-setter, 21-14, 16-21, 15-12. Florida Atlantic's top pair of Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova closed out the match, capturing their 10^th straight-set sweep of the season against Florida State's 1s, 21-18, 21-16.

In the Sandy Owls weekend finale, No. 4 TCU won courts four, five, three, and two to lead 4-0, but Adams and Svozilova defeated TCU's top pair, who represented Team Spain in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, in three sets, 21-19, 21-23, 17-15, to close out the match, 4-1.

Adams and Svozilova's win over TCU's top pair marked a significant victory for the Sandy Owls as Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno represented Team Spain in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
Kate McLaughlin and Kendall Mignerey finished the day 1-1 to close out the weekend 2-2 and improve to 7-5 on the season, marking the second-best pair record for the Sandy Owls this season.
