POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The No.13 Florida Atlantic Sandy Owls finished perfect on day one of their home-opening Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational, earning a pair of 4-1 wins over CUSA foe UAB and No. 20 Georgia State.
Florida Atlantic improved to 10-4 overall and 2-1 in CUSA play, while UAB dropped to 10-6 and 1-1 in CUSA play, and Georgia State fell to 8-7 on the season.

Shayna Wolf got their first career win as a pair, taking a straight-set sweep at the 5s, 21-11, 22-20. UAB tied the dual up at 1-1, taking a three-setter at the 4s, but
Kate McLaughlin and
Kendall Mignerey answered back with a two-set win at the 3s to push the Sandy Owls back in front, 2-1.
Klaire VanDeusen and Julie Honzovioca got the dual-clinching win on court two, rallying to take a three-set win 18-21, 21-16, 15-10.
Ashleigh Adams and
Marketa Svozilova closed out the 4-1 win for the Sandy Owls, earning another comeback three-set win on court one, 17-21, 21-18, 15-10.

VanDeusen and Honzovicova got things started for Florida Atlantic, taking a dominant straight-set sweep on court two, 21-16, 21-12. Adams and Svozilova picked up their 11th straight-set sweep of the season, 21-19, 21-13, defeating GSU's top pair to push the lead to 2-0. Sides and Wolf clinched the match for the Sandy Owls, earning a comfortable two-set win at the 4s, 21-16, 21-11. The Panthers notched their first point of the dual on court five to make it 3-1, but McLaughlin and Mignerey sealed the 4-1 with a comeback three-set win on court three, 17-21, 21-18, 15-6.

- Adams and Svozilova continue to dominate this season, pushing their record to a remarkable 13-1. The duo's straight-set win over No. 20 Georgia State marked their 11th sweep of the season.
- McLaughlin and Mignerey, Honzovicova and VanDeusen, and Sides and Wolf all finished the day 2-0, improving their season records to 9-5, 8-6, and 2-0, respectively. The wins marked the first career pair wins for Sides and Wolf.
The Sandy Owls will wrap up their home-opening weekend on Sunday with Top 5 matchups against No. 4 USC and No. 3 TCU.
