KNOXVILLE, Tenn./DALLAS – The Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming & diving teams wrapped up day two of their split championships on Thursday night with three new school record, conference champions, and more podium finishes for the Owls.
On the men's side, the Owls rewrote the record book with three new school records. Florida Atlantic was also crowned ASUN champions in two different events on the day. With day two concluded, Florida Atlantic still ranks second out of five teams with 539 points and are within striking distance of the top spot.
For the women, day two saw many women compete in finals throughout the night, including diver
Trinity McNall finishing seventh on the 1-meter. Overall, the Owls finished the night with 292 points.
Men
- The night began with a new school record and second-place finish for the Owls in the 200 free relay. Luke Beals, Logan Thornsberry, Rush Clark, and Daniel Laureyssens swam to a new school record time of 1:19.05
- Success continued with Peyton Ming taking silver in the 100 fly (46.89).
- Senior Nick Shaffer took home gold in his last conference championships. In the 400 IM, he swam to a gold medal time of 3:51.55
- Plenty of points were racked up by the Owls in the 200 free final including a 2-3-5-8 finish in the A-Final
- In the 400 medley relay, a new school record was set as well as winning silver medals. The team of Ming, Jayden Repak, Clark and Laureyssens finished the relay in a time of 3:11.65
- For the second night in a row, the events concluded with the Owls going 1-2-3-4 in the diving events, this time on the men's 1m. Freshman Isac Faxius continues to impress and was once again crowned conference champion after his total score of 292.75.
Women
- Night two of AAC competition saw five finals take place, with Owls having competitors in each of them
- The 500 free final saw Cica Carvalho finishing 12th in the B-Final in a time of 4:55.92. Alongside Carvalho in the B-Final was Talitha McEwan who finished the race in a time of 5:00.84
- Florida Atlantic had four competitors in the 200 IM final including two in the B-Final. Presley Staretz was the highest finisher for the Owls in the event finishing the race in 2:04.45
- 50 free final had Maja Piotrowicz & Ludo Pavia in the B-Final where Piotrowicz raced herself to a best time of 23.10
- Trinity McNall came up big for the Owls finishing seventh in the A-Final in the 1-meter diving with a total score of 237.45
