KNOXVILLE, Tenn./DALLAS – The Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming & diving teams concluded day three of action in their two conference championships on Friday night with more school records broken, conference champions crowned, and more podium finishes.
Day three was no different on the men's side from previous outings. The Owls started the day setting two new freshman records and wrapped up the evening becoming conference champs in the 800 free relay that included a school record broken by six seconds. With just one day of competition remaining, Florida Atlantic now sits on top of the five-team standings with 699 points, looking to finish strong tomorrow.
For the women, day three saw best times all around, including a new school record in the 400 medley relay. Overall, the Owls finished the night with 659 points going into the final day of competition.
Men
- Friday's festivities began with Matthew Hand and Jayden Repak both breaking the freshman record in the 100 breast prelims. Later in the finals, both men broke the record again with swimming times of 54.88 and 55.21
- In the 100 back the Owls went 5-7-8 in the A-Final led by Peyton Ming
- Freshman James Shevchenko found himself at the top of the podium winning the 200 fly in a time of 1:46.45
- The night ended in the form of a big splash with a new school record, beating the previous time by six seconds, as well as winning the 800 free relay. The team of Daniel Laureyssens, Logan Thornsberry, Timo Paisley and Nick Shaffer finished the relay in a time of 6:25.08
Women
- The third night of AAC's saw plentiful of best times from multiple different athletes across all events
- In the 400 IM, Presley Staretz (4:26.93) and Ella Freeman (4:26.93) both set new best times in the B-Final
- The Owls got a strong performance from Dolores Margni in the 100 fly A-Final and saw Amelia Robertson earn herself a new best time (55.37) to win the C-Final
- In the 200 free B-Final, Talitha McEwan swam herself to a new best time of 1:51.47
- For the Owls, the 100 breast once again saw two athletes swim to new best times with Maja Piotrowicz (1:01.61) and Bilú Bianchi (1:01.70) taking 5th and 6th place in the A-Final
- Trinity McNall in the 3m diving won the B-Final for the Owls while grabbing herself a zones cut
- The 100 back had many strong performances for the Owls including a new best time for Megan Drover-Smith (55.01)
- Similar to the men, the night ended with a school record performance in the 400 medley relay. The team of Aura Vilarrasa, Piotrowicz, Margni, and Ludo Pavia set a new Owls school record with a time of 3:40.83
