FAU Wins 4-3 at UTSA

SAN ANTONIO– Florida Atlantic men's tennis defeated UTSA, in a non-conference contest, by a 4-3 score Friday afternoon in sub 40 degree weather.
The Owls edged out UTSA for the doubles point. The duo of Simon Myslivec and Marek Pazdera shutout their court #6 opponent at 6-0. UTSA used a tiebreaker to secure court #1 and minutes later, the Owls clinched the best two-of-three-point format, courtesy of Segundo Goity Zapico and Lucca Pignaton winning court #2 by the narrowest of margins at 7-6(8-6).
The two teams began singles play and with one match to go it was 3-3 with court #3 in progress. It was the seventh time in 2025 that all eyes turned to one deciding court. FAU newcomer Segundo Goity Zapico won two of the next three games to capture the final set and clinch the match 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
The win moves the Owls to 2-7 on the year. FAU will next play host to South Alabama at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 6.
