Swim & Dive Gears Up for Patriot Invitational

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to head north to compete in the annual Geroge Mason midseason Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Virginia.

For the first time, the Patriot Individual will now conduct a four-day meet with relay action kicking things off on Wednesday, Nov. 19th at 5 p.m.

At the 2024 midseason meet, the Owls swept both the women's and men's fields for the second consecutive season. The weekend saw five school records go down as well as three freshman records. Overall, the men accumulated 1,953.5 points while the women's team finished with 1,936 points.

LAST TIME OUT
FAU men and women divers competed at the South Florida Diving Invite with both sides taking first place. For the seventh time in his career, Trevor Kuhn was tabbed with ASUN Diver of the Week honors for his performance.

OWLS AT THE 2024 PATRIOT INVITATIONAL
Men

A school record was set in the 800 free relay clocking a time of 6:31.01.
Former Owl Nick Shaffer won the 400 IM recording a time of 3:53.03, setting a new meet record.
Daniel Laureyssens won the 100 free (43.80).
James Shevchenko won the 200 fly in a time of 1:47.57.

Women

The Owls broke the women's 200 free relay in a time of 1:31.57, besting the school record which was previously 1:32.30.
Cica Carvalho was victorious in the 500 free (4:53.27).
The 400 medley relay record was also broken, swimming a time of 3:41.32, besting the previous school record of 3:41.47.
The final night of midseason ended with a win in the 400 free relay clocking a time of 3:21.26 for a new school record.

ON DECK
Select Owl swimmers will participate in the Toyota U.S. Open, December 3-6, in Austin, Tx. and the CSCAA Open Water National Championship on December 13. in Nathan Benderson Park, located in Sarasota, Fla. The next official meet for Florida Atlantic will be on December 15 in Coral Cables as the Owls face the University of Miami women's team and Cincinnati.
