TAMPA, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's women's soccer's 2025 season came to an end on Thursday evening with a 2-1 loss at South Florida, conceding a last-minute goal.
The Owls (4-12-3) went toe-to-toe with the Bulls (8-8-2) until the very end, with neither team finding the net until the final 10 minutes. The Owls quickly responded to USF's first goal of the night with Sutton Markee's first score of the season with four minutes remaining, before the Bulls hit the game-winner with just over a minute to go.
Opportunities arrived early for Florida Atlantic, with two straight attempted shots at the 10-minute mark nearly evading the South Florida goalkeeper. With 22 minutes remaining, Sloane Young nearly connected with the net before another last-minute save. In total, the Owls out-shot the Bulls 8-5 in the opening 45 minutes, with five on-goal.
The Bulls struck first in the 82nd minute. Four minutes later, a pass from Young set up a header to Markee for the equalizer, setting up the thrilling finish. South Florida connected with the game winner at 88:56, leaving little time for the Owls to answer back.
Ashley Small, making her 15th start in the goal, recorded a clean first half with four saves and recorded a fifth in the second. She closes the season with three straight games with five plus saves.
