CHARLOTTE – The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Charlotte in a Thursday evening road matchup.
The Owls (4-10-3, 1-5-2) faced the 49ers (8-5-2, 4-2-2) in the last stretch of the regular season on Thursday evening.
Florida Atlantic kept the same starting lineup tonight with sophomore
Ashley Small in goal for the Owls. Charlotte scored two goals within the first 11 minutes of the match to take the lead (2-0) early. Lisa Fureh,
Sutton Markee, and
Lida Dodge went in with approximately 15 minutes to close out the first half. Small registered two saves in the first 45 minutes to add to her total on the season.
Florida Atlantic made changes to the starting lineup in the second half. Sophomore
Hailey Santiago scored her sixth goal of the season from a bounce back save from the Charlotte goalkeeper, which gave Santiago another opportunity to contact the back of the net to put the Owls on the board. The 49ers then answered back with another goal to move the score 3-1 in favor of Charlotte. Small recorded another three saves in the second half to increase her total to 43 on the season.
Daniella Diaz,
Morgan McDonald,
Ashley Small, and
Hailey Santiago played 90 minutes tonight. Diaz and McDonald have registered five consecutive matches with a total of 90 minutes played.

The Owls will return home for the last home game of the season. On Sunday, the seniors will be celebrated pregame before taking on the Mean Green at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
