Owls Set for Road Matchups at Memphis and UAB

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic volleyball team heads back on the road this weekend for a two-game road trip, visiting Memphis on Friday, Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. ET, and concluding at UAB on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. ET. Fans can catch both matches live on ESPN+.

Following this weekend's matches, the Owls will return to Paradise for another two-game homestand against Wichita State on Oct. 31 at 6 p.m., and Tulsa on Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.

A LOOK AT THE OWLS
- FAU enters the weekend ranked fifth in the American at 14-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play. The Owls have won five of their last seven contests and are looking to bounce back after dropping a four-set battle to Charlotte this past Sunday.
- The Owls are led offensively by Olivia Hart, Anna Hartman, and Erin Morrissey. Hart boasts a team-best 3.67 kills per set, while Hartman and Morrissey are averaging 2.60 and 2.45 kills per set, respectively.
- Florida Atlantic's assists leaders are Emsley Venard and Victoria Hensley. Venard boasts a team-leading 446 assists, averaging 6.03 per set, while Hensley ranks second on the team with 372 assists, dishing out 4.96 per set.
- The Owls' back row is led by libero Isabelle Northam, boasting a team-best 312 digs, averaging 4.39 per set. Hart ranks second on the team in digs with 214, averaging 2.85 per set.
- At the net, Florida Atlantic's block is led by Maggie Allred. Allred has registered a team-best 84 blocks this season, averaging 1.24 blocks per set.
SCOUTING MEMPHIS
- Memphis enters Friday's contest at 10-13 overall and 1-7 in league play. The Tigers are currently tied for 10th in the conference and will look to snap a two-game losing streak and a seven-game conference losing streak.
- Offensively, the Tigers are led by Zaniah Hoskins and Janyah Henderson. Hoskins leads the Tigers with 212 kills, averaging a team second-best 2.79 kills per set. Henderson ranks second on the team with 191 kills and averages 2.42 kills per set.
- Maddy Bach and Sydney Marshall are Memphis' assist leaders. Bach boasts a team-best 6.91 assists per set, while Marshall follows just behind with 4.47 assists per set.
- The Tigers' back row is led by Abigail Schlueter and Hoskins. Schleuter boasts a team-best 3.43 digs per set, while Hoskins comes in second on the team, averaging 2.30 digs per set.
- At the net, the Tigers are led by Henderson, who has recorded a team-leading 82 blocks, averaging 1.04 blocks per set this season.
SCOUTING UAB
- UAB enters the weekend at 8-12 overall and 1-7 in league play, tying for 10th in the conference. Last weekend, the Blazers earned their first conference win of the season, sweeping the Tulane Green Wave, but closed the weekend with a straight-set loss against Tulsa.
- The Blazers are led offensively by Jorda Crook, Mia Reese, and Abby Jones. Crook paces UAB with a team-best 3.98 kills per set, while Reese and Jones rank second and third, averaging 2.79 and 2.38 kills per set, respectively.
- UAB's assists leaders are Annastiina Tarkanen and Riley Lovell. Tarkanen paces the team with 344 assists, dishing out 6.04 assists per set, while Lovell ranks second on the team with 250 assists, recording a team third-best 4.24 assists per set.
- Defensively, libero Delaney leads the Blazers' back row with 191 digs, averaging 2.73 digs per set. At the net, UAB's block is led by Addyson Smock, recording 67 blocks and averaging 1.05 blocks per set this season.
SERIES HISTORY
- Friday's matchup marks the fifth all-time meeting between Florida Atlantic and Memphis. The Owls lead the all-time series 3-1. Friday will mark the first meeting between FAU and the Tigers in Memphis. The Owls have won the last three meetings between the two teams, including earning a straight set sweep in their last matchup on Oct. 4, 2024, in Boca Raton.
- Sunday's matchup marks the 13th all-time meeting between the Owls and the Blazers and the seventh meeting in Birmingham. Florida Atlantic leads UAB 4-2 when playing on the road in Birmingham. In the last meeting, the Owls dropped a four-set battle with the Blazers on Nov. 15, 2024, in Boca Raton.
