BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls close out their two-game homestand on Friday, Oct. 3, hosting the North Texas Mean Green for a 6 p.m. first serve, before heading to Philadelphia to face off against Temple for a 12 p.m. first serve on Sunday. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.
SCOUTING FLORIDA ATLANTIC
- FAU enters the weekend at 10-5 overall and 1-1 in American play. The Owls are coming off their first conference win after sweeping the East Carolina Pirates, 3-0, on Sunday.
- Head Coach Fernanda Nelson earned her 200th career victory following the Owls' sweep over East Carolina. Libero Isabelle Northam also eclipsed 1,000 career digs in Sunday's win.
- The Owls' offensive leaders are Olivia Hart, Anna Hartman, and Erin Morrissey, averaging 3.57, 2.75, and 2.54 kills per set, respectively.
- Florida Atlantic's assists leaders are Emsley Venard and Victoria Hensley. Venard boasts a team-leading 316 assists, averaging 6.32 per set, while Hensley ranks second on the team with 249 assists, dishing out 4.88 per set.
- Libero wise, Northam anchors the Owls' back row, boasting a team-best 204 digs, averaging 4.34 per set. Hart ranks second on the team in digs, tallying 141 and averaging 2.76 per set.
- At the net, FAU's blocking leader is Maggie Allred. Allred has recorded 52 blocks this season, averaging 1.18 blocks per set.
SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS
- North Texas enters Friday's matchup at 11-3 overall and 1-1 in league play this season. The Mean Green opened conference play with a straight-set loss against Charlotte but bounced back with a four-set win over UAB.
- The Mean Green is led offensively by Reagan Bedell, Jahniya Jackson, Lilly Croshaw, and Loredana Fouonji. Bedell boasts a team-best 3.47 kills per set, while Jackson, Croshaw, and Fouonji, follow with 2.42, 2.27, and 2.20 kills per set, respectively.
- North Texas runs a 6-2 offense with setters Alexa Washington and Sidney Soria. Washington leads the Mean Green, averaging 5.86 assists per set, and Soria ranks second on the team, dishing out 5.00 assists per set.
- The Mean Green digs leader is libero Dakota Mitchell, averaging 3.49 digs per set.
- Fouonji and Addison Achilles are North Texas' blocking leaders, recording 1.27 and 1.11 blocks per set, respectively.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
- Temple enters the weekend at 11-5 overall and 1-1 in American play. The Owls opened conference play with a five-set win over preseason favorite Rice, before falling in three sets on the road at Tulane.
- The Owls are led offensively by Leia Harper, Christiana Greene, Olivia Hummel, and Alyssa Finister. Harper leads the way for the Owls, averaging 3.37 kills per set.
- Temple also runs a 6-2 offense with Lexi Yoza and Daniella Gonzalez Murati leading the team in assists. Yoza boasts a team-best 5.38 assists per set, while Gonzalez Murati follows just behind with 4.62 assists per set.
- The Owls' back row is led by Hummel, Claudia Rivera, Harper, and Yoza. Hummel boasts a team-leading 2.78 digs per set, while Rivera, Harper, and Yoza follow behind, averaging 2.76, 2.74, and 2.50 digs per set, respectively.
- At the net, the Owls are led by Finister, Katie Hickey, and Greene. Finister has recorded a team-best 0.83 blocks per set, while Hickey and Greene rank second and third, averaging 0.80, and 0.70 blocks per set, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY
- Friday's contest marks the 20th all-time meeting between the Owls and the Mean Green. North Texas holds a 13-6 series lead, including a 5-3 advantage when playing in Boca Raton.
- Sunday's matchup marks the 5th all-time meeting between Florida Atlantic and Temple. The series is tied 2-2, however, Temple holds a slight 1-0 advantage when playing in Philadelphia.
