Florida Atlantic Falls to UAB at Home

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team fell 2-0 to UAB in a Sunday afternoon American Conference matchup.
The Owls (4-9-3, 1-4-2) faced the Blazers (5-4-6, 2-2-3) on a hot Sunday afternoon in Boca Raton.
Sophomore Ashley Small started in goal once again for Florida Atlantic. The Owls defense held the match scoreless for the first 16 minutes. One Blazers found another for the first goal of the match to take the lead 1-0. Senior Morgan McDonald kicks one that grazes the bottom of the net, but the result was in favor of UAB, with a save from the Blazers' goalkeeper. UAB scored its second goal of the day in the 30th minute to increase the lead before halftime.
Florida Atlantic made a change to the starting lineup in the second half. Sophomore Sutton Markee started for Isabel Bostic. UAB had four new starters to begin the second half. The Owls defense held UAB to a scoreless second half. FAU had a total of eight cornerkicks on the day, all taken by McDonald.
Small improves her save total to 38 on the season and 48 in her career. Daniella Diaz, McDonald, Kayla Siddiqi, and Stella Rubidoux have played 90 minutes in four consecutive matches.
