Home Season Opener Just Days Away

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's football team returned to Schmidt Family Complex Practice Fields for a Wednesday morning practice session.
The Owls worked through offense, defense, and special teams work as well as the same versus an Army scout team. FAU began the day with beautiful weather, worked through a South Florida shower, and ended their session under humid conditions, but nothing slowed the energy and focused prep.

FAU Alumni and Community Engagement will host two away events. The first is October 19th, when the Owls travel to San Antonio to face host UTSA. The second will be before the November 16th game versus Temple in Philadelphia. For more information, email alumni.affairs@fau.edu.
This week, Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Tom Herman will discuss the Owls season opener at Michigan State and the team's home opener versus Army. The game will air on CBS Sports Network. Sophomore tight end Zeke Moore is featured in "Pads Off" as well as the emotional reaction of walk-on LB Makai Sawtelle after he was awarded a scholarship, and in honor of Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, the story of graduate assistant coach Kyle Brady, who served five years in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of captain.
Fans are encouraged to attend and listen live as Herman and LaVicka discuss the team, the next week's opponent, and other highlights across the department, while taking advantage of Duffy's lunch and beverage specials.

PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior newcomer Phillip Dunnam continued to prove his ball hawk ways. Following his Michigan State interception last weekend, the safety collected a deeply thrown pass during Wednesday morning's practice
- Redshirt freshman RB Gemari Sands ran one in during red zone work, as did junior quarterback Cam Fancher
- Freshman WR Nicholas Venezia collected a deep pass during "teamwork"
- Fancher hit graduate WR George Johnson for a touchdown

Inside the Owls Burrow enters its ninth season. The show originates on Bally Sports Florida but can be viewed on fausports.com and YouTube.
