BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's women's soccer team finished their Thursday evening match in Paradise in a 0-0 draw against the South Florida Bulls.
The Owls' tie versus USF improves their overall record this season to 2-5-3 and 1-1-1 in conference play. This marked the first time these two teams faced each other since the 2023 AAC Conference Tournament, when Florida Atlantic knocked out the Bulls to advance to the semifinals.
Florida Atlantic made a switch to their starting XI by having junior
Morgan McDonald in place of midfielder
Sofia Voldby. In the seventh minute of the match, goalkeeper
Lexi Gonzalez recorded her first save of the day. At the end of the first half, the match remained scoreless.
By the end of the second half, the match ended with no goals from either team, allowing the Owls to record their first conference shutout of the season and third shutout on the year. Gonzalez ended the match with three saves on the night. She improves her record to 1-4-2 on the season with a total of 123 saves in her career.
The Owls will go on the road to take on the Blazers of UAB on Sunday, Sept. 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST and the match will be aired on ESPN+.
