BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic volleyball closes out its non-conference road slate this weekend as the Owls head to Tallahassee for the Seminole Classic on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13-14.
The Owls (5-2 AAC) kick off the weekend on Friday, Sept. 13, as they face off against the No. 21-ranked Florida State Seminoles (5-1 ACC) at 6 p.m. Florida Atlantic will wrap up the weekend on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 1:30 p.m. against the UCF Knights (4-0 Big 12).
- Florida Atlantic enters this weekend's Seminole Classic at 5-2 overall and is just coming off a 2-1 weekend at the Red Raider Classic that saw the Owls earn a five-set win over Green Bay and a four-set win vs. Northern Arizona but fell in a four-set battle against host Texas Tech.
- The Owls' setter Victoria Hensley had a career week, earning American Athletic Conference Weekly Honorable Mention honors. Hensley posted a pair of double-doubles after dishing out a team-leading 174 assists, averaging 10.88 assists per set and adding 40 digs, eight kills, six blocks, and four service aces on the weekend. She tallied a career-best 59 assists and added eight digs, two kills, and a pair of aces in the Owls' win over Northern Arizona.
- The Owls are led offensively by Valeria Rosado and Katelynn Robine, who have tallied 3.35 and 2.62 kills per set, respectively.
- Victoria Hensley is the Owls' assists leader, dishing out 284 assists, averaging 10.52 per set this season. Hensley also just recently surpassed 2,000 career assists during the Owls' straight-set sweep over FIU on Sept. 3.
- The Owls' back row is led by Isabelle Northam and Brianna Anderson, who have tallied 3.29 and 2.93 digs per set, respectively.
- Madison Dyer, Natalie Depaula, Maggie Allred, and Kaila Ru lead the Owls at the net, registering 0.96, 0.81, 0.8, and 0.8 blocks per set this season, respectively.
- Florida State enters Friday's matchup at 5-1 overall and is just coming off a 2-1 weekend at the Auburn Invitational. The Seminoles earned wins over Cal Poly, 3-0, and North Florida, 3-1 but fell in their first contest of the season against host Auburn, 1-3.
- The Seminoles are led offensively by Audrey Koenig, averaging 3.33 kills per set, while Khori Louis and Taylor Head rank second and third, posting 2.86 and 2.62 kills per set, respectively.
- Florida State runs a dual-setter offensive scheme, with Loren Robertson and Kenna Phelan dishing out 5.90 and 4.71 assists per set, respectively.
- Defensively, the Seminoles digs leaders are Koenig, Head, Phelan, and Kyleene Filimaua, averaging 2.48, 2.43, 2.33, and 2.30 digs per set, respectively.
- At the net, Florida State Florida State is led by Kelsey Perry with a team-leading 21 blocks, averaging 1.11 blocks per set, while Louis ranks second on the team in blocks with 19, averaging 0.9 blocks per set.
- UCF enters this weekend currently unbeaten at 4-0. The Knights earned a five-set win over Virginia Tech, and have picked up three sweeps against Charlotte, Stetson, and UNCW.
- The Knights' offensive leader is Avah Armour, who has posted 60 kills, averaging 4.29 kills per set this season. Britt Carlson and Heidi Bonde rank second and third on the team in kills, averaging 2.64 and 2.21 kills per set, respectively.
- Abby Schomers is the Knights' assists leader, tallying 146 assists and averaging 10.43 assists per set for UCF.
- UCF's back row is anchored by Chloe Scheer, who has tallied a team-leading 55 digs, averaging 3.93 digs per set. Katelyn Grimes is second on the team in digs, recording 2.21 digs per set.
- Abby Schomers and Sasha Cohen lead the Knights in blocks, tallying 11 blocks and averaging 0.79 blocks per set each.
- The Owls return to Paradise following this weekend's play as they host their final non-conference matches of the season in the Owls Paradise Classic on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21.
