2024 NFL Owls - Week 1

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The opening week of the 2024 NFL season is in the books with five former Florida Atlantic Owls seeing action. Here's a rundown of how each performed during the first week (All gametimes listed below are Eastern):
Active Owls (5)
#0 Azeez Al-Shaair | LB | Houston Texans
- Entering the 2024 campaign with sky-high expectations, Al-Shaair and the Texans opened their season with a 29-27 victory over the divisional rival Indianapolis Colts. The sixth-year pro finished second on the team with five tackles and added a pass breakup.
Texans' Record: 1-0
Next Game: vs. Chicago – Sunday, 8:20 p.m. (NBC)
#84 Harrison Bryant | TE | Las Vegas Raiders
- Bryant played 15 total snaps in his Raiders debut. 11 of them came on special teams as Las Vegas fell to the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 24-10.

#91 Trey Hendrickson | DE | Cincinnati Bengals
- Hendrickson had an active day against the New England Patriots' offensive line. Both of his registered tackles brought the run game to a halt after one yard or less. He also recorded two quarterback hits in the 16-10 defeat.

#43 Matthew Hayball | P | New Orleans Saints
- Making his NFL debut, Hayball was not needed much for his main services. The 47-10 blowout win over the NFC South rival Carolina Panthers saw the team only punt twice. But the Adelaide, Australia native was part of an effective operation, serving as the holder as the Saints went a perfect 9-for-9 on kicks, five extra points and four field goals.

#26 Devin Singletary | RB | New York Giants
- "Motor" led the Giants rushing attack in his first game as a member of Big Blue, recording 10 carries for 37 yards while playing 70% of the team's offensive snaps. Singletary also added four receptions, including one that went for 12 yards and the first down, in the 28-6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Giants' Record: 0-1
