BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic softball team (20-7) returned home from a successful 11-day road swing that included capturing their first American Athletic Conference series to play host to a midweek game featuring the Owls and Indiana on Wednesday night.
The game was scoreless through four innings of play. Indiana scored two runs in the top of the fifth. The Owls countered in the bottom of the frame. The Hoosiers would add two more in the seventh for the game's 4-1 final.
Indiana struck first with a two-out bases loaded single that scored two. Senior first baseman
Zoey Jones led off the bottom half of the fifth with a double to left center.
Kylie Hammonds, who was inserted into the game as a pinch runner for Jones, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a
Cameryn Orland sacrifice fly. Starter
Jaden Martinez, who had tossed four scoreless innings gave way for closer
Ainsley Lambert. Lambert threw a scoreless six, but saw Indiana score two runs on two hits in the top of the seventh inning for the game's final.
- The Owls tallied five hits, two coming from Jesiana Mora who leads the team with a .445 batting average
- While Mora was 2-for-3, teammates Cammeo Presutti and Zoey Jones were 1-for-3 each
- Presley Leebrick was 1-for-4
- Both Jones and Leebrick's hits were doubles
- Martinez moved to 1-2 on the year while Lambert added three strikeouts to her team leading 38 strikeouts

The Owls will play host to their first American Athletic Conference contest this week. UAB will be in Paradise for a three-game series starting Friday, March 15 at 6 p.m. and will then play Saturday, Mar. 16 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 17 at noon.
