BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic softball team (21-7, 3-1 AAC) had a historic night by hosting their first American Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening. The Owls belted 14 hits and scored 11 runs in the 11-3 win over UAB to assure it would be one to remember.

UAB opened the game scoring two runs in the top of the first. The Owls responded with four runs on four hits in the bottom of the first to build a lead they would never surrender. The Blazers added their third and final run in the second, but FAU was not done adding runs in three of last four frames for the 11-3 final.

NOTES/NOTABLE

The Owls had five doubles on the night, three by Kiley Channell and one each by Zoey Jones and Presley Leebrick
Channell was 3-for-4, all three doubles and she had three RBI and scored one
Leebrick was 3-for-4, with the double, two RBI and three runs scored
Cammeo Presutti was 2-for-3 with two runs score
Katelynn de Leon was 2-for-3 with a run scored
Trinity Schlotterbeck started the game for the Owls, went the distance (6), scattered seven hits, allowed two walks and was 1-for-2 at the plate with a run scored

NEXT UP

The two teams will return to Joan Joyce Field for a 2 p.m. Saturday contest. The third and final game of the series will be Sunday at noon.
