BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic women's tennis has built an impressive 6-1 record and will put that record on the line on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m., when the Owls play host to South Alabama. The match was a schedule addition after both teams have had previously scheduled matches canceled due to weather.
The two teams have played five previous times, with the 2023 4-0 victory breaking a 2-2 all-time series tie giving FAUÂ 3-2 series lead.Â
Heading into the match, the Owls will be coming off a 2-0 victorious road trip in Tampa where they defeated fellow American Athletic Conference members USF and North Texas. Those victories were led byÂ
Panna Bartha, who is holding down court #1 with a 7-0 record. Bartha's efforts earned the freshman the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors. She is the first player, male or female, to receive the spring tennis award.
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon holds a 6-1 dual season record while
Millie-Mae Matthews,
Amber McGinnis and
Lexi Silna are all 4-2 on the season.
Matthews and
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon have proven to be a winning doubles duo with a 5-0 record, while McGinnis and Bartha are 2-0.
When combining both singles and doubles play,Â
Panna Bartha is 11-2,
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon is 10-2, and MIllie-Mae Matthews is 9-2.
