GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The women's Florida Atlantic University track & field team began their 2024 indoor season with the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday.
It was a strong opening meet for the Owls who recorded multiple top finishes in a crowded field of runners.
- The mile run was an Owl's nest, with seven finishing in the top 10 out of 47 runners. Anna Rovirosa finished in second place (5:03.32), followed by, in consecutive order, Anabell Reumann (5:04.74) in fourth place, Jessica Hatch (5:06.19), Elyssa Toal (5:06.52), Jordan Stevens (5:06.94), and Leah Helms (5:07.24). Casey O'Connor rounded out the top 10 with a time of 5:14.87
- Rovirosa was also the top finisher for the Owls in the 800m, finishing in fourth with a time of 2:17.38. Toal followed closely behind in fifth place with a time of 2:19.73
- In the 400m run, Adrianna Mier (57.24), Rosa Ten Berg (57.71), and Jordan O'Brien (1:01.13) finished fourth through sixth
- Promise Cross and Keturah Darwon both qualified for the 60m hurdle finals, Cross finishing in fourth with a time of 8.82, now the ninth best time in school history
The Owls will return to Gainesville for the second of three trips on Friday, Jan. 19 – Saturday, Jan. 20 to compete in the RADD Florida Invitational.
