BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls are returning to Paradise this weekend as they host Temple for a pair of matches to open up their inaugural American Athletic Conference home slate. The Owls will open the weekend on Saturday, Sept. 23 for a 6 p.m. first serve, before closing out the weekend on Sunday, Sept. 24 with a 1 p.m. first serve.
- Florida Atlantic open up their inaugural AAC home slate at 8-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play so far this season. The Owls are just coming off their AAC-opener against the North Texas Mean Green, which saw the Owls fall in a really tight straight-set battle.
- The Owls offensive leaders are Arianna Beckham, Romina Cornelio, Kaila Ru, and Katelynn Robine, who have all broken triple-digit kills so far this season. Beckham and Cornelio are tied for a team-leading 111 kills this season, averaging 2.41 per set. Robine ranks third on the team with 104 kills, averaging 2.26 kills per set, while Ru boasts a team-leading 2.56 kills per set and ranks fourth on the team with 100 kills so far this season.
- Powering the Owls offense are Florida Atlantic setters Victoria Hensley and Noelle Stephens. Hensley boasts a team-leading 379 assists, averaging 8.06 assists per set, including a season-best 40 assists this week at North Texas, while Stephens has dished out 152 assists, averaging 4.0 assists per set.
- Florida Atlantic's back row is led by Owls' libero Isabelle Northam, who has tallied a team-leading 203 digs, averaging 4.32 digs per set. Cornelio ranks second on the team in digs, tallying 114 digs and recording 2.48 per set.
- Ru leads the Owls at the net with 37 blocks and Beckham ranks second on the team with 30 blocks this season, averaging 0.95 and 0.70 blocks per set, respectively.
- Temple enters this weekend's matches at 9-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Owls are tied for a conference-leading nine wins but are just coming off an AAC-opening midweek 3-0 loss to Tulsa.
- The Owls are led offensively by Taylor Davenport and Avery Luoma, who are averaging 4.22 and 2.54 kills per set, respectively. Davenport has posted a team-leading 173 kills so far this season.
- Temple's assists leader this season is setter Patrycja Zielinska, who has dished out a team-leading 213 assists, averaging 6.66 per set.
- The Owls' back row is led by Nalani McBride, who has tallied 105 digs, averaging 3.09 digs per set this season, while Samantha Jo Mikosky leads Temple at the net, recording a team-leading 36 blocks, averaging 0.90 per set this season.
- This weekend's matches will mark the first-ever meetings between Florida Atlantic and Temple.
- Next weekend, the Owls will hit the road again as they head to Greenville, N.C. for a two-match series against the East Carolina Pirates on Sept. 29 and 30.
